An English journalist is in Stockholm to find out how the Swedes are handling a record influx of refugees and economic migrants. He finds himself in personal danger reporting on riots and is appalled by reports of gang rapes and murders. He encounters an intolerant liberal-left society where anyone who opposes the politically correct order is branded a racist. The country, once hailed as utopia by Fleet Street, appears to be drifting into a state of dystopia.

The journalist is helped in his reporting by two feisty, courageous female police officers, one of whom he falls in love with but who has a dark secret or two. The story starts with the discovery of a man beaten to death in a forest on the outskirts of the capital. One of the policewomen is investigating the murder, which turns out to have a devious motive. This is not a novel for liberal and left-wing politically correct people. It is provocative at a time of terrorist attacks all over northern Europe.
