Lim Meng Sing was born in the then Malaya (now Malaysia) which was under British rule until 1957 when the country achieved its independence.
He was fortunate enough like his peers to have had a primary and secondary education in an English-medium school with head-masters drawn from Britain. Without such an English-based education, it would not have been possible for him to acquire the skills to write in the English language and this anthology would never have seen the light of day. It was during these formative years that he acquired a deep love for English literature, Latin and western culture.
Lim received his BA (honours) from the University of Malaya in 1963 and his Ph.D from the Institute of Social Studies, Catholic University of Paris, in 1974.
He was the originator of a prose work WHAT IS LOVE? (AN EXPERIMENTAL PROJECT, Blurb April 2012) collaborated by Dr Judi Burstyner and Louis Kushinksy , also from Melbourne.
Lim’s GROWING UP IN BRITISH MALAYA - A MEMOIR was released in May 2017. The sequel to this anthology is his THE JOURNEY OF THE HEART.
Lim founded The Melbourne Circle in 2013 modelled after the Bloomsbury Group of 20th century London.
Apart from writing, his interests include music, literature, languages, neuroscience, psychology, ethics, and economics. Lim a self-taught composer and violinist and performs for charities in his spare time. In 2013, he cofounded the Australian & Asian Orchestra in Melbourne. He regards himself as a humanist.
Lim and his wife have been married for fifty-three years. They have two grown-up sons and a young grandson. They have lived in Australia for over two decades.
