IT ALL FADES is based almost entirely on true events that took place in the life of the Author, Christopher Hayden. He, as well as the character, joined the Army Infantry at age 17, went through Infantry training at Fort Benning, joined a top unit in New York, and eventually deployed to Baghdad, Iraq.

Like the title character, Hayden also earned a Purple Heart and Combat Infantryman's Badge overseas, as well as suffering from a brain injury due to being hit by an explosion. Many parts of the book are also based off other true stories about the war in Iraq. The journal gives the reader in-depth looks based on personal experience of the author in to what it's like to be in the middle of a firefight, what it's like to deal with the daily threat of being a target, and what it's like to be part of a unity in the middle of a war zone.

The person writing the "journal" has to balance the morality of war with those of the Army. And a specific, tragic event makes him question those morals to the very core of his being. Can he fight through the brain injury, the PTSD, and the memories of that horrible night that seem to be taking him over completely once he returns home? Read to find out!
