The author believes that anyone who journals is much like a pilgrim who sets out on a winding path through unfamiliar territory. Having absolutely no idea where this path will lead, their task is to explore and discover, to observe and to participate, to develop an awareness of what is going on both within and around them, and then write about it. By doing so, they not only gain a deeper perspective on their own issues but they also begin to observe that others often face similar issues and challenges in their lives.
Writing as a practice can help us remove our masks, discard our illusions, remember things that we have forgotten, recognize that our stories often run parallel with others, discover our unique 'gifts', and help us to comprehend the value and blessing of our lives and the lives of others. With this comes a softening, and a growing empathy, compassion, and forgiveness for ourselves as well as for others.
'Inspired to Journal' is for those who are new to journaling but would appreciate a little bit of guidance and inspiration. It is also for those who have experienced first-hand the benefits of journaling but, over time, may have allowed their journals to lie unopened and forgotten. This book may serve to encourage and inspire them to pick up their pens once more.
