In The Root Cellar Of The Mind is a story about a young poet who refuses to join the status-quo. He lives in a netherworld between dreams and reality. He has decided that it's better to be free to pursue the demands of his own imagination than to give in to a world that he believes is repressive, unjust, and corrupted. He is an idealist who struggles to survive in the midst of poverty and social decay. He meets a young woman who is working as a bartender at a neighborhood tavern. Their growing relationship is over shadowed by her violent ex-boyfriend. In resolving this conflict, the poet discovers a dark angry side to his personality, and a level of courage that comes as a surprise.
