The Beauty of Holiness seeks to explain the relationship between holiness, worship, and beauty. Worship is defined as responding to an awareness of God. This awareness creates the possibility of holiness within each person. It empowers people and allows them to hope for purity within themselves, within their relationships with others, and even within society. Beauty as discussed in this book is referring to inner beauty. A person has a beautiful personality if they have a quality of warmth, and well-being which radiates life from them. After explaining how beauty is defined by integrity, originality, development, and symmetry, Metcalfe goes on to assert that all of these characteristics are also true of holiness. He works to show that holiness allows one to live a truly beautiful life. The book ends with an explanation of how one can also live into the simple life of holiness.
