This story is about how two small stuffed animals, called Bear and Lilly, become “real” and change the perspective and the everyday lives of two grandparents coping with loneliness, boredom and an empty nest. But the story is also about how these same grandparents are able to develop a new zest for life as they entertain themselves through their imaginations, which, according to author Gene Vickers, is the best thing any of us have to keep us sharp, alert and on top of whatever life has to offer. And, best of all, he says our imaginations are free and don't depend on electronic gadgetry that numbs the mind and ultimately destroys the spirit of creativity. Vickers says there's a kid still living in every one of us and allowing that memory to surface from time to time is a good thing.

It's a charming story for young readers that adults can enjoy as well.
