WWII was a time of hardship, fear, and pain, but there were joys as well, especially when one heart found another in the midst of chaos. If Only In My Dreams contains two Christmastime novellas, 1944 - A Dance to Remember, and 1945 - Through Her Eyes, set in Legend, Tennessee at the ending of the second World War.

A Dance to Remember - 1944
While running from the safe, civilian arms of the perfect man, Mary Ellen Chambers lands smack-dab in the arms of another, whose imperfections stir her in ways she could have never imagined. But he is a soldier and the last thing she wants is to get involved with him after having already lost one sweetheart to World War II.
But the heart wants what the heart wants, no matter the consequences. And Mary Ellen learns quickly that sometimes the consequences mean all or nothing.

Through Her Eyes - 1945
Allie Winchester is desperate. Her war-time job was given to a soldier who returned home after serving his country. It’s almost Christmas and she’s about to be homeless. And she never found the man of her dreams even though she danced her way through World War II with every soldier who passed through Legend, Tennessee.
Just when she thinks all is lost, Allie is offered a job to care for a blinded, injured soldier. The opportunity and benefits seem too good to be true. But she soon learns that the job of her dreams has the potential to turn into World War III, unless she can help him find his way back from the darkness.
