'I, Hobot: An Anthology of Robot Love Stories' is a collection of short stories depicting what the future could possibly hold for us humans concerning the advent of advanced artificial intelligence. As we relinquish more of our daily activities over to computers, it was only a matter of time that we develop machines that could substitute for a human in all our daily activities, including sex and love. Since this fledgling industry is still in its infancy, I have coined the general phrase ‘hobot’ to describe any human-looking mechanical device that is capable of sex with a human.
'An Acceptable Substitute' is a story about Pat, a dedicated model P324 home controller unit that tries to help its owner find love after a devastating loss and learns a little about human emotions in the process.
'Factory Reset' talks about Christopher Gomez, a follower of the Church of the Universal Savior who tries to help free a group of hobots from a sex robot brothel with interesting results.
'When Dreams Run Dry' tells the tale of a pair of siblings who decide to hire a comfort android to help their mother deal with her last days as she struggles with Alzheimer's disease.
'Head of the Class' is a cute story about Dr. Nina Elliot, a robot psychiatrist who teaches newly created androids how to interact with humans and their idiosyncrasies.
'Pillow Talk' is a short story about Janice Murray, a traveling sales representative who leases an android companion for the night and finds herself drawn into an emotional relationship.
