ABOUT THE AUTHOR Katya is a rock musician/singer/songwriter based in Los Angeles. She is a true animal lover whose family came from Russia. She comes from a long line of musicians, artists, and animal trainers, who were constantly taking in injured animals. Birds, cats, dogs, rabbits, and even rats were rescued by her family and brought back to health. These animals grew to respect her family because they saved their lives. They didn’t do it “By The Book”; they tamed and trained animals from the heart straight to the animal’s soul. When Katya was five her family took in a stray dog. They were able to find the owner by putting up signs around the neighborhood. When Katya’s Godmother, Blanca took in a dog that was pregnant, she had a litter. That is where Katya’s first dog, Whiskers, came from. Her family always took in rescues as pets. Katya instantly bonded with her new dog. Her mother would go to the kitchen and find Katya asleep in the pen with Whiskers. Katya was six years old when she got her first dog. All the dogs would play together on the neighborhood block.
