The action takes place in Boise, Idaho, in 1952, just before the sexual and technological revolution began throughout the country.

It is about two groups of teenagers during the summer of their Junior and Senior years, at the height of their hormonal activity. One group attends the large public school, and the other group the small Catholic one. It describes their wild and bizzare adventures of that special Summer while examining the similarities, differences, and conflicts between them, because each has their own set of values and morality.

It is full of steamy dating, hot rods, keggers, and sports, with elements of American Graffiti, Happy Days, and The Catcher in the Rye. But, with the added dimension of how the Catholic students try to reconcile their Baltimore Catechism teachings from the nuns and priests with their strong secular influences permeating their lives.
