Hermeneutics of Religion

Religion is a burning issue in modern times. It has often driven the carriage of history and decided the nature and course of nations. In modern times of rising pluralistic relationships, it is important to understand the dynamics of approaches towards an understanding of other religions. But how? This book investigates the principles of interpretation and approaches to the study of world religions. To have a theory of religion before studying religion would make the study superfluous unless there is openness for change, openness for new horizons emerging. Men can determine the rules of a particular language-game; but, they cannot create the laws of logic. So, while hermeneutics must pay attention to both content and context, it must also watch to keep to the principles that are universal and absolute – that are common.
