A funny thing happened in a parallel universe.

Charlie awakens from anesthesia in a dark cavern. A science team was supposed to be on hand to greet him, but they’re nowhere to be found. He doesn’t know what strange new world he’s entered. 

In a lonely corner of Oregon, Melinda sleepwalks through her life. She sees her clients, assists her aging parents, cares for her cat. Forty-one and single, she leads a drab existence. 

What if something, or someone, changed all that?

Charlie reenters Melinda’s life and leads her on a quixotic journey up and down the West Coast, across alternate universes, into their mutual pasts, and through the myriad what-ifs of love and fate.
