When aging Hollywood movie star Sabine Rousseau is found murdered in her Chicago home, Detective Bellamy already knows this is not just a random murder. The raw passion and deep seated anger displayed by the killer can only mean it was committed by someone who felt a deep connection to Sabine. As a longtime admirer of Sabine Rousseau, Bellamy is shocked when he begins to delve into Sabine's family and her sordid past. It was becoming obvious that Sabine was not the elegant lady she had portrayed to her fans all these years.

Sabine's dysfunctional family takes the investigation in many different directions, all of them ending in frustrating dead ends for detective Bellamy and his partner Chris Salazar. When new evidence is finally brought to light, Bellamy realizes that the killer has another target that they had never anticipated and their local investigation soon turns into a nationwide manhunt.
