Hazel is a newly divorced single mother of one, busy with a rigorous undergraduate class schedule as she tries to better the living situation for herself and her son.  Without having a solid foundation in faith, poor choices lead her down a path to destruction.  She experiences a violent trauma which combined with many concurrent life stressors, causes her to undergo a mental breakdown.   She spends the next several years in and out of a mental hospital following a failed suicide attempt.  Meanwhile, she is led to continue her studies and to take on the arduous task of medical school while undergoing treatment for her mental illness.  Overcome with sorrow and bearing the stigma of a psychiatric disorder, she eventually seeks God and discovers His mercy and healing as He guides her down a better path to recovery and blessing.
