This volume contains the complete Fender CD60 build.
This is a complete start to finish custom build. The base is an Fender CD60 Acoustic cutaway guitar. As I often do, I planned this build in advance and then put the pieces together for this build over a few months while buying other parts for my guitar site.
The idea was to build a Studio guitar. I wanted a guitar that I didn't have to worry about scratching up if I dragged it out for late night playing sessions. In the same breath I wanted a guitar that would give me consistent sound. I also wanted a standard pickup alone with the under the saddle piezo, but I wanted these two sound systems to be separate from one another so that I could run them out to separate lines into my recording software or plug them into different amps. I wanted a pinless bridge. A pro quality neck setup with a compound radius fretboard. I wanted low maintenance, and I wanted a $100.00 build that played like a $500.00 build.
This build begins with a donor body with a broken neck. It will cover the repair of the neck, prepping the body, installation of the separate sound systems. Leveling the fret board. Carving a bone nut and saddle replacement and much more. Over 100 full color photos, 74 pages (Print edition).
Covers Stripping - Fitment - Bridge replacement – Building a Bridge jig - Neck Repair - Prep and Sanding - Priming - Color Coats - Clear coats – Electronics Installation – Fret Leveling – Installing a new nut and saddle – Carving a Bone Nut and Saddle - Final assembly - More. © 2015 Geo Dell.
