It wasn’t until graduate school that I realized that as a woman my technical aptitude was an issue. I was the first woman in the environmental engineering doctoral program at Michigan Tech University. It was here that I first learned how differently I approached technical problem solving and how that tended to disturb my advisors.
Tina Andres is explaining her experience with discrimination. Her ability as an engineer isn't in question. Well, at least, until the "she" part comes into the equation.
