First in the Gravity Wave series. For a time they called themselves ‘human’, just one of many races that called Earth their home over the ages. Lost in a fractured and often false history, these humans forgot who they were. Like children abandoned on an island: they fought each other, becoming cruel and manipulating creatures. Outstaying their welcome, humanity found itself struggling to survive on a world that purged itself of man’s abuses. Nature reclaimed itself through floods, earthquakes and another age of ice. However, this was not what drove humans to freeze time for themselves. It wasn’t Earth that ultimately threatened their extinction. Humanities last days were measured by a biological clock that’s time expired: dictating a human child would never be born again. Remnants of this race dwelt with stasis pods, while scientists tried to solve a genetic mystery, but even their extended lives were coming to an end. They had searched every possibility, even turning to man’s ancestors for clues. In so doing scientists found a divine enigma: a man who’s genetic footprints remained unchanged through time. A man who was immortal. A man who was not a man. His identity kept to whispers, no fool would admit to the truth before them, and yet so many of the tools scientists used were not of human design. They could do nothing now except follow where his footsteps led: to the stars.
