In preparation for a meeting I was hosting, I was drawn to scripture that really began to speak to me about God’s divine plan. It would become the broader platform for much of the ministry and content of that very meeting. This all came from the dialogue between God and the Prophet Samuel when his own people expressed their desire to go another way. No longer happy or content to function under God’s intended plan, looking around at what others were doing they voiced their desire to be like other nations.
“And the LORD said unto Samuel, “Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.” -1 Samuel 8:7
In my opinion, one of the greatest tragedies in the history of mankind, and especially for God’s chosen people, was when they rejected the Lord’s plan and looked to follow other nations around them. It makes my heart ache to even consider the feelings of God in this matter.
