In a world where Christians are faced with worldviews of humanism, postmodernism, secularism, materialism, and pantheism, it is essential for us to have a biblical worldview so that we can intelligently challenge other worldviews. And a biblical worldview can be shaped only by understanding God’s point of view. This He has revealed progressively through His covenants.
Why biblical theology? Peter Adam has stated that if we understand biblical theology, it saves us from “…the ultimately destructive postmodern question ‘What does this text mean to me?’ to the more fruitful question ‘What does this text mean?’ ” A correct understanding of biblical theology is also a good safeguard against false and reductionist views of the Christian faith.
