Gobborn Seer is a very popular English fairy tale. It was first published by Joseph Jacobs in his book More English Fairy Tales in 1894. The writer was inspired in his work by Brothers Grimm, he wanted English children to have an access to English fairy tales. The story is about the wise man Gobborn Seer, who once sent his son Jack to sell the sheep skin. But the thing was he had to bring back both the skin and the value of it. Three days son was trying to act on the father’s instructions but nobody wanted to buy the skin on such terms. Then suddenly he met a witty girl, who took the wool from the skin and paid the price. Soon she became Jack’s wife. Then Gobborn offer the son to build a beautiful castle for the king, who wanted to have an outstanding one. But when the castle was almost finished they recognized the king was going to kill them. He was too afraid they could built a better castle for some another king. Whether a wise Gobborn Seer and his son’s wife broke the deadlock or not you will understand, when you read the whole story.
