"Boooooooo... bees." This is how the ghost introduces himself into Andy's life, before telling him that his mother was a powerful witch, his father a warlock, and that Andy has their mystical powers. Andy's girlfriend is increasingly worried that her boyfriend is a madman while Andy questions his own sanity before the ghost gives him a quest. The ghost needs Andy to help him with a spell to give his restless soul some much needed rest... But that doesn't mean the ghost wouldn't continue to be a trickster and complicate Andy's life...
Ghost of Magic, excerpt:
“Refill?”
I wasn't sure what the ghost meant at first but then I saw the coffee pot floating through the air and I tried to hide out freaked out I was as I watched it tip and pour more warm coffee into my cup. Then it floated right back to where it belonged. The ghost sat there smiling proudly the whole time like a child showing off a trick to their parent.
“That is a neat trick,” I managed.
“If you help me out and learn to use your talents you will be able to do things like that any time you want,” said the ghost.
“How do you know so much about all these spells and whatnot?”
“I used to be a warlock myself,” said the ghost.
“What happened?”
“Lost a poker game with the devil.”
I chuckled and saw that he wasn't kidding. I tilted my head and looked at him with questions in my eyes.
“I don't want to talk about it. There is a reason I'm a spirit and not a warlock. Leave it at that.”
“That sounds like an interesting story,” I said.
“Maybe it is, if you didn't live it. If you didn't lose everything and have to spend eternity knowing it.”
