Ghost Flee: Military SF - 104,000 Words
War on two fronts: the nightmare of military commanders everywhere. Already at war with the Combine, the human Confederation must now prepare for a second front against the felid Tlartox Empire, who wish to avenge their humiliating defeat at the hands of the humans 300 years earlier.
Voting down the long-standing peace treaty with the Confederation, the Tlartox look forward to a resumption of 'The Hunt'. Admiral Tood Tlomega has focused her plans on the human planet Lormar, with its great naval base, as a fiting target for retribution. She will return dignity to the people of Tlar. She believes she has prepared for every eventuality.
Lieutenant Mart Britlot plans on a different outcome. He remains the last living descendant of the Adian Nation in the Confederation. The Adians, with their undefeated fleet, left the Confederation in a mass emigration, only to be destroyed by The Phenomenon 300 years previous - or so the history books say. Britlot believes otherwise and, based on scanner echoes that experts dismiss and the cryptic entry in an ancestor's diary, he hopes to find the Adians and return with their fleet to defend the Confederation and put an end to the Tlartox menace. He will drive his own ship and crew beyond endurance to achieve this.
Neither side takes into account a small band of Tlartox subversives and their allies who intend to rae a claw across the plans of the warmongers - on both sides.
