This manual is for the beginning gardener who has a great passion for plants but little time to learn the art of successfully and satisfyingly cultivating his or her own garden, yard or terrace. Everything the beginning gardener needs to know is discussed clearly and simply: plant needs, irrigation, fertilization, pruning, identification of parasites, preventative care and defense strategies and, finally, the principles of biological gardening. Great care has been taken to keep the manual both concise and easy to consult.
Bearing in mind that time is always of the essence, each subject is discussed in no more than three pages. No relevant information is left out but there is no dwelling on lengthy explanations that are not strictly necessary to the gardening task at hand either.
Since doubts may arise, the manual has been subdivided according to subject in order to make it easier and quicker to find advice regarding a specific problem without re-reading the entire manual.
As you read this manual you’ll realize that gardening is much simpler and more natural than you’ve always supposed; that you only need to know the rules and follow them to get wonderfully satisfying results.
If, till now, the results of your gardening have been disappointing despite the enthusiasm and love you’ve put into the care of your plants or if you often feel uncertain about what to do or not to do even when results are good, this is the book for you.
Before getting my diploma in gardening and beginning work as a gardener I had the same doubts and same difficulties as you do. Quite probably I was committing the same errors as well. That’s why I wrote this book: I’ve lived the frustration of not knowing and now that I do know I want everyone who, like me, loves flowers and gardens, to learn the good rules of gardening - in order to really be able to say “Gardening, what a passion!”
