This novel was written by the creator of Uncle Remus. It's a happy/sad tale of a young black woman, who, after the slaves were freed, stayed with the people she knew. Written in an almost fairy-tale style, it is captivating and strangely beautifully written. This is one of those books that, after reading it, you will recommend to your friends, and will never look at the stars at night without remembering this lovely tale.
