In this book we are going to present furniture styles starting from the beginning of civilization up to the modern era.
Considering the entire development of furniture styles, we can notice two different approaches in furniture design: classical and romantic.
Classicism, with its roots in ancient times, is characterized by symmetrical lines, seriousness, elegant appearance, as well as by controlled and balanced form. The best example of classical style in furniture design is baroque furniture of the seventeenth century.
Romanticism, in opposite to classicism, invites with its appearance to joy, passion, humor and movement. Rococo furniture style from the eighteenth century is the best example of romantic view on house décor.
