This book is written for the memory of all those who traveled the world at a very unique time in history. A time where you could travel overland through countries from Morocco to India with no fear and complete freedom. Those years were from the 1960’s up until the invasion of Afghanistan in 1978 and the overtaking of the American embassy in Tehran after that the window to travel overland was closed. Sid Schwartz was at the right place at the right time in history to be part of the legendary sixties. He represented The Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Crosby, Stills, and Nash and later Young, better known as CSNY. These vivid vignettes of stories as the author left his Hollywood agent position and all that led up to his being at the right place at the right time that allowed him to represent some of the greatest rock and roll bands of that amazing era.  The author’s journey from Brooklyn to Hollywood is an extraordinary story. His travels to Morocco and across North Africa to Italy and Greece through Turkey and Afghanistan and on to India is a journey of discovery and enlightenment. Leaving the western world behind at the turn of the decade 1970.  His meetings with remarkable men are laid out in this book along with his fantastic journey to strange places and lands. At that time in history there were thousands of hippies traveling east. Every one of them trying to learn something that they could not get in their home countries. They crossed Asia in Jeeps, VW campers, Mercedes Benzes and me in a Bedford Van. They were bent on having another experience of life then the one their parents had lived, this is that story. They wanted to learn Sanskrit, sitar, yoga, meditation, spiritualizim and many wanted to experiment with drugs and not be hassled by the constrictions in their own countries. Asia had a more tolerant view of drugs in those days then the west. This book is all about those things that the hippies believed in so much. The story starts with Jimi Hendrix and follows the author all the way to his meeting with the Dalai Lama in 1971 in a place called Dharmsala, India. The stories in this book are sure to open your minds to places and people that I believe are harder to find today. The author hopes the stories bring you in and allow you to experience the beauty of that time as it takes you on a journey through times past.
