The week drifted by pretty quickly and the Saturday evening was upon us, gig night!
I sat round at Abbye’s house again, on the floor straightening her hair, it was chocolaty brown and shimmered with products I’d sprayed to make it look healthy and vibrant, her shoulders were so smooth with a tattoo of a black and grey rose she’d designed herself and had gotten Lee to tattoo it on.
He sounded so mysterious and into everything and so artistically adept, but seemed to always be in the background somehow, he was never there at Abby’s house when I visited, she said he liked her having space to see her friends, he even left some food for us to eat which tasted amazing, and then guilt poured over me again as I was eating on pizza he had cooked for us earlier on in the day, See, Mat wasn’t like this at all, he wasn’t overly tentative at the best of times except for maybe valentines day, which again, was pretty generic-box of chocolates and some flowers, and I was beginning to feel drawn to the idea of Lee more and more, not necessarily Lee himself, but the whole idea of him and what he stood for as a man.
