“Forgiveness in the Church and American Society” is a book about forgiveness on an individual level and communal level. The first part of the book focuses on forgiveness in the body of Christ (the church), i.e. relationships among believers. Far too many Christians struggle with forgiveness and if we who are supposed to be the light to the world, can hardly get it together on forgiveness, then what is the hope for the world? We struggle with forgiveness within the church as much as outside the church.

The second part of the book deals with forgiveness on a communal or society level, i.e. the condemnation of ex-prisoners, felons, and ex-convicts by the criminal justice system and the government. The lack of opportunities for these people make it a sort of modern day slavery and I believe that it is the responsibility of the government and the justice system to ensure that these people make a smooth transition back into society because these people are a product of their society. Their children and just like a parent never stops loving and providing the best opportunities for their children (good or bad) to succeed, the justice system needs to do the same because it will lead to a gradual drop in crime rates. I guarantee it!
