Life at Gondola, an Indian owned retail store in Kamwala, is disrupted by the arrival of Chikange, a new Zambian employee, who quickly establishes himself as a favourite of its Chief Executive Officer, Rao, rising rapidly through its ranks. When the economy stutters, suspicions turn on foreign businesses. Do they unfairly exploit the countrys economy and illegally divert huge earnings abroad? Are the happenings at Gondola a reflection of a bigger picture? An edict to Zambianise businesses to restore honesty is flouted. Unethical business conduct at the company spills over into personal relationships.
