First Silver is based on a Screenplay by the same author currently under development with Little Studio Films http://littlestudiofilms.com/projects/in-development/ and http://littlestudiofilms.com/firstsilver/
It is an underdog drama centered on the Comrades - the iconic world famous ultra marathon with over 20,000 entrants annually.
Grant – unhealthy, fat and flabby, patronized by his peers - gets caught up in a bet that commits him to compete in the Comrades. Taking on the reality of the daunting 55-mile challenge before him, he scales one formidable barrier after another, only to discover he surprisingly has the rare genetics to vie for an elitist silver medal. When his two co-bettors realize the same thing they stop at nothing to escape the wager, catapulting Grant into a disruptive and nasty conflict.
It’s a story of Grant forging an unlikely friendship with a crack black athlete from the other side of the tracks, and finding his soul mate on the other side of the racial divide. These three are at the core of a riveting roller-coaster drama that reflects a mosaic of compelling true-to-life Comrades diversions and experiences that go in every direction except in a straight line.
It ends in an epic, an almost excruciating contest that involves an unforgettable rescue/sacrifice between friends. In so doing, the true meaning of “First Silver” is thrust upon the audience and it’s nothing at all that anyone would expect.
