Alisha Basara is torn between the traditions of her birth country Sanuria and the contemporary lifestyle she has adopted since living in the United States when her father introduces her to her future husband. Struggling to cope with the concept of an arranged marriage to a man she loathes, she runs away. Entwined in the traditions of her culture she soon realizes that there is no way out of her desperate situation. When her bus back to Washington D.C. is delayed, she finds herself in a nearby bar where she gets to know a group of firefighters.
