Set in the 1960s, this is the fifth in the series of stories about Detective Chief Inspector Victor Moyes and his second in command Detective Sergeant Victoria Morgan as they attempt to rid the fictional town of Abberford of crime.     This was a continual battle with the extended Jenkins family who had their fingers in every pie going and had been a thorn in the Abberford police’s side for many years.   Victor had once estimated that fifty per cent of the recorded crime was down the Jenkins family and knowing the way they operated he also knew that a lot of what they did wasn’t reported.   If a crime was carried out then at the end of the day it could be guarantee that a Jenkins was behind it.

As well as the Jenkins family he also had to contend with his on/off sexual relationship with Victoria, which at times was just as frustrating but could also be as rewarding as locking up one of the Jenkins gang.
