Boris Superhalk

The best of Fantasy Short Stories

In a modest bungalow on the edge of a forest, lived a rather poor moose who went by the name of Boris Superhalk. The small bungalow he called home was not filled with odd bits and pieces as one might expect of a moose with such a name, nor was it a stylish bungalow where important people came to meet. It was a simple bungalow with a large veranda in front where Boris regularly spent his afternoons relaxing, listening to the relaxing sounds of the forest which surrounded him.
It was nothing fancy, but Boris Superhalk did not need anything fancy, he just needed somewhere he could call home. A place with a kitchen for him to cook amazing meals day after day, a warm bed to sleep in at night and a roof over his head for those rainy days.
Boris really couldn’t ask for much more. He absolutely loved living his peaceful life in his little bungalow. Life had not always been so simple and easy going for him, but he had turned that around! He now lived off the land, he had a garden in his back yard and he ate a plethora of veggies he grew himself. There was no need to be bothered by anyone, ever again. Especially not those godforsaken gremlins!
At one point, Boris thought they would never leave him be. They always needed something and for some reason, he was always their go-to moose. Boris had finally had enough after the last excursion that he took with the gremlins. They were always getting him into some crazy, near death type of experience! He just couldn’t take it anymore, he was no longer the young moose he had once been.
When Boris had been a young moose, fresh out of the academy, he had been up for any adventure, ready to take on any task presented to him, but now in his later years, he only wanted to live the simple life a moose was meant to live. He no longer really craved adventure, he was happy to just cook up a storm in his kitchen and then eat his spoils while sitting on his welcoming veranda.
The sounds of the forest were suddenly drowned out by the sound of a very familiar, shrill voice, “Boris! Boris Superhalk!” it called out and Boris knew who it was before she even walked around the bungalow.

the adventure has began..
