Written in the form of a memoir, this is an explicit fictional account of the life of an English prostitute in the 18th century. As a teenager, Frances "Fanny" Hill is saved from a whoremonger by a young man of the upper clazz. He falls in love with her and makes her his mistress. When he disappears, after a short period of bliss, she is forced to take up a life of prostitution and soon comes to enjoy it. She has all kinds of adventures, working in brothels and being a kept woman, and finally inherits enough money to retire. She meets up with her long lost lover and they are finally able to marry without his family trying to stop them.

Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure (popularly known as Fanny Hill) is an erotic novel by John Cleland first published in England in 1748. Written while the author was in debtor's prison in London, it is considered "the first original English prose pornography, and the first pornography to use the form of the novel." One of the most prosecuted and banned books in history, it has become a synonym for obscenity.
