THE OLDEST, A FATHER'S SHINING STAR...
Malik Baker was only fifteen when he and his younger brother Brandon lost their father. Things were okay for a while after the insurance money came, but once it was gone, the absence of their father could be felt with each passing day. Their mother, Gloria did her best working two jobs, but even with the second job it seemed like she would never be able to pull them out of the sinking hole.

Strapped for cash and with eviction notices looming in their future, Malik felt he had to step up and honor the promise he made to his father and take care of his family. He settled on an after school job, but it wasn't enough. He realized that in order to make good on his promise, he had to do something drastic. Something that would require him to be someone else. Someone terrifying.

THE YOUNGEST, A MOTHER'S BABY BOY...
Brandon was a mama's boy; innocent to the streets and always with his head in a book. He'd always had his mother's attention all to himself, but now he had to share her with Malik. Things became even worse when Malik started paying all the bills. He hated how his mother praised him. He hated all the attention Malik had taken away from him. He hated everything about him. He felt that Malik was in the way and if he was gone things would go back to normal.

Brandon's thoughts set a series of events in motion that let a secret hate boil out of control just below the surface, hidden from knowing eyes. His mind created a bridge of delusion that pushed him beyond hate well into the inky abyss of mental unpredictability.

Will Malik be able to see Brandon's mental instability before he releases it upon him? Can Gloria find a way to show Brandon that she loves them both the same? Or will Brandon have the chance to see his plan through and claim his mother's love all for himself?
