1950’s Strimet Vale, is a nice place to live, but is so deathly dull you wouldn’t want to visit. At least that is what Eric Radish thought until the day his teacher, the lovely Miss Darling disappeared and in her place arrived the dastardly Mr Brown. Eric, who was training himself to be a detective, could not but connect the two events, and began his investigation.
One night Eric is shocked to receive a visit from a spooky, ethereal woman calling herself Milena de'Ath. “I bring an urgent message for the Curator. The message is, Rafe has escaped.” Then the vision disappeared. But just how important was her message and in what way was it important – was it important in a way like Mrs Radish remembering to order an extra pint of milk because they were expecting visitors or was it important in a saving the world from imminent destruction sort of way? And who on earth was the Curator? Eric is mightily troubled.
But then, when first Mr Radish, then Mrs Radish along with the sinister Barron Fleshacker disappear, Eric is forced to act, along with his best friend and often enemy, Digby Mortimer, to journey in to the past to save their families. Will they be able to stop squabbling long enough to rise above the level of their incompetence and get home safely, or forever be lost in time? Ages 9+
