Ellender is a woman, who gave live birth to ten children. After the death of her first and third child, she was left a widow from the accidental death of her husband Truman Jones in Malibu, California.

In 1944, Ellender gave birth to her tenth child and was responsible for caring for her eight living children.

Ima Jo is Ellenders fourth child and second child to have polio. Ima Jo needed to be put into Rancho Los Amigos hospital in Downey, California for polio patients. Jo lived in an iron lung for two years, endured twenty-seven surgeries and was allowed to come home to live with the family, after they moved to Santa Monica, California. With a five-hundred-dollar deposit, Ellender bought a house in Santa Monica between Pico and Ocean Park Blvd. In this house, she worked tirelessly raising her eight children and saw to the special needs of Jo, who needed round the clock care. Ellender loved God so much, she trusted Him with every decision. Even when her life was very difficult and full of disappointments, she made sure her children were in church. She ensured they studied their Bibles, prayed every day, and gave God the Glory.

Ellender had a purpose on this earth, she always said, " I am here to replenish the earth." This memoir is about how she managed the difficult task God gave her. Today, we have 140 family members with a direct blood line to Ellender.

Ellender’s favorite hymn was, Be Thou My Vision, O Lord of My Heart. The love of her God, family, and passion for life, was Ellender’s Vision: The Lord of Her Heart.
