Archie started the household's excellent gridiron tradition at the University of Mississippi. An Ole Miss legend, he played quarterback for the Rebels from 1967 to 1970. Twice he was a Heisman prospect, and in 1971, the New Orleans Saints made him the second overall pick in the NFL draft. But Archie's professional career never ever amounted to much. Surrounded by sub-standard talent, he didn't post a winning season throughout his 11 years with the horrific 'Aints. Archie then finished off with stints in Houston and Minnesota.
Despite his so-so NFL profession, Archie continued to be a fan favorite and people hero in Mississippi. There were a track discussed him, "The Ballad of Archie Who.".
Perhaps the most substantial development throughout Archie's time at Ole Miss came off the industry when he fulfilled Olivia Williams, the school's homecoming queen. The two eventually married and resided with their boys in among the more exclusive areas in New Orleans.
