For most of author Ken Churchill’s life he has worked as a piano technician. After those forty-five rewarding years, he taught the trade to others part-time for thirteen years. It is a very difficult trade to learn and only about two out of twenty students can learn it proficiently. This was the case in many schools, including the Orange Coast College where Churchill taught.

Churchill is interested in other sciences as well as piano technology. He has studied geology, physics, astronomy, music theory, psychology, and philosophy.
