2 Ansel watched his adopted girls, the last of his family, they carried the message their father sent to his brother, disappear, over the small hill behind his homestead then turning he donned his weapons. He intended giving them as much of a start as he could and he fully intended carrying as many of the new lords men as he could to share the afterlife with him. He stood alone in his front yard when the guard came to his house. “Do you intend opposing us “? The leader asked. “I intend protecting what is mine if you do not attempt to harm me or mine I will not oppose you” was his reply. “Where are the women that lived here” the commander shouted in his face. “That is none of your concern I take care of my own children”Ansel retorted. “The women here now belong to our lord the penalty for hiding them is death” the commander said. “There are no women here and you do not have permission to be here, the penalty for trespassing on my land is death” Ansel told him. “Kill him now” ordered the commander. His men drew swords and started forward the man in front fell back with a star shape embedded in his throat in quick succession two more suffered the same fate. Then they were on him and with a deadly whisper his sword came out of its scabbard and slit the throat of the closest one. As he parried the next he felt the edges of rage coming over him. He welcomed it and gave himself fully to the felling. Dimly he heard someone shouting berserker before he went fully into the consuming rage inside him. When the arrow penetrated his chest he ignored it continuing to destroy these demons that had come to kill him. Five more arrows found him before he killed the last bowman then his knife flew true to the throat of the commander. As he fell in his own blood he smiled not one had gotten away his girls had the head start they needed
