Just outside of the big city limits of Lexington, Kentucky, the small and mysterious town of Shady Oaks exists. With a eerily welcoming presence, it offers its residents charm, beauty, and secrets. Surrounded by a large forest and rivers, this secluded town provides the perfect scene for supernatural and paranormal events to occur. Only, the humans haven't' learned of the secrets their alluring town holds. Or have they?

Beautiful and independent Dorry wasn't the type of girl who believed in fairy tales. As the typical, spoiled rich girl, she had become jaded to the world around her. Living a fast life of no curfews, shopping sprees, and breaking the rules; she was devastated when she was sent to spend the summer with her aunt and uncle on a small Kentucky farm.

Reclusive and moody Caden has lived a life of secrecy for years. Hiding in plain sight, he enjoyed his life of solitude. Working as a farmhand, he was able to keep his secret identity hidden-- until Dorry showed up.

Upon meeting, Caden discovers that Dorry is on to his secret. As much as he attempts to keep Dorry at a distance, she refuses to stay away.  Refusing to back down, Dorry confronts Caden  as  a raging storm brews in Shady Oaks. As their argument intensifies, so does the storm outside and Dorry and Caden must seek shelter before they are killed. But they are too late, caught in the midst of the tornado, they are swept away to a futuristic Shady Oaks.

Upon waking, the pair must seek advice from some of Shady Oaks most notorious and magical creatures as they follow a mysterious yellow brick road to a portal that will lead them home or to their death.
