Dixie's Escape is the story of Savannah Catherine McKenzie. This book is about a smalltown girl with big dreams and ideas very different from all those that surround her. Dixie is a senior in high school and she is also an aspiring poet. Being a very popular girl, you would think that she has it made. But to the contrary, she's lost amongst family troubles and their expectations of her, and her boyfriend's need for more, and the peer pressures of teenage life. Also, Dixie has been holding in a secret that will shake the very foundation of her family. She is attempting to find herself in the midst of the turmoil that everyone around her calls "the perfect life." She comes from a very well-to-do family and by all accounts should be living the dream. But in reality her dream life is truly a nightmare. There are so many lies being told and relationships being hidden that the truth is not always so easy to tell. Everyone in her life has a secret of their own, and why should Savannah be any different? In the story, we will follow Dixie as she attempts to grow up and mature, adapt to life after high school and to escape the one person she can never seem to get far enough away from-herself!
