Disaster Legacy follows the struggles and challenges of the journey leading Sean McChesney-Dalton from Ireland to North American the 19th century. The adventurer survives seafaring pirate attacks, the murder of his father and attempted killing of his /mother together with dysfunctional family turmoil before narrowly escaping a hanging for alleged terrorism before escaping to America.

He carves out a career at York Factory after arriving in Canada aboard the merchant ship Disaster eventually marrying a First Nation woman and accepting an assignment to successfully develop Canada's Hudson Bay Company prairie trading posts. Intrigue and suspense follow as the seaman turned business executive agrees to organize the first North American Great Lakes shipping company for Hudson Bay Company executives. He faces the turmoil of the death of his native wife and assuming sole care of his infant daughter.
Sean becomes instrumental in helping defuse a Métis insurrection threat when American ships carrying his family owned industrial firm merchandise are discovered smuggling arms to rebel leaders. He deals with unscrupulous partnerships, death threats, and family turmoil before returning to Ireland with his infant daughter and learning of another child born out of wedlock to a former lover that helped him escape from Ireland. Personal and business challenges continue after discovering the mother of his son and his own mother missing from Ireland for 25 years, are struggling to retain family ownership of the crumbling McChesney industrial empire
