I am grateful that you have chosen to read Defyning Moments, and hope it offers value in exchange for the time you have invested. This book was born years ago, after a particularly difficult time in my life, when I struggled to accept the seemingly random events and wondered what I was actually doing to make a difference and find my true purpose. It was written in my heart long before it appeared on paper, and I wondered why the lessons from my rather ordinary life would be useful to others.
If each of us is the hero of his or her own story, we need to share these stories to help each other face the challenges, disappointments, and fears that allow our best qualities to emerge. Failure is absolutely necessary to understand success. Rejection builds the stage where we later stand to bask in the light of love and appreciation from those who really matter. Fear can be demolished by courage and faith in the greater purpose we seek.
Why would these lessons from my perfectly ordinary life be of use to other people? Because we are living the same lives and learning the same lessons, regardless of the variance in the details, and we need to know that we share our struggles and our victories, and we are not alone.
