The author has spent much of his time for years in the greatest libraries of Europe and America, searching the whole range of Christian literature to glean from it the most spiritual and helpful Christian experiences. This book highlights the lives of many great Christians from days gone by. Lawson tells the story of many well known "heroes of the faith" like John Wesley, Charles Finney, and D.L. Moody, while bring out some of the lesser knowns like Lorenzo Dow, Billy Bray, and Girolamo Savonarola. The book particularly draws attention to that "one moment" in a believer's life when a greater depth is reached, a broader intimacy with Christ is achieved, and things are all made new. Some call it a second blessing, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, or entire sanctification, but the fact remains that these lives will bless you.
