The newspaper business is not what it used to be and reporter Harry Sinclair dreams of getting out - until a bomb turns up in the city's train station and makes life interesting again. The body of a young Muslim teen is discovered in a playground. The police believe there is a connection to the bomb, but Sinclair is doubtful.

A contact inside the police force tells the reporter that a white couple may be responsible for the failed bomb attack. When no arrests are made he becomes suspicious and is determined to find out the truth.

He visits a gang controlled high-rise where the murdered teen lived. He learns that the victim's sister works for university professor who is doing work on a deadly new coronavirus, a disease that has suddenly made an appearance in the city.

The professor associates with a senator who Sinclair discovers has more than a passing familiarity with the victim. Sinclair's investigation leads him to conclude that the politician is not only a hypocrite, but probably a criminal too. All he has to do now is prove it.
