The purpose of this book is to open a discourse on current and pertinent issues related to multicultural populations by the most noted experts and researchers in the field. This book offers an overview of the literature on multicultural issues and assesses its approach to the following issues: the stereotypic assumptions with regard to filial piety and Asian American populations, substance abuse within the Latino community, multicultural youth and elders, refugee and immigrant populations as well as vulnerable populations such as victims of political and sexual exploitation.

The aim is to provide a forum for educators in the field to present views regarding important issues for which there is no other venue. They are important for educators, practitioners, and students in the field to consider and discuss. These will serve as springboards for such discussion. Although references will be cited when appropriate, these will be position papers rather than research papers or reviews of the literature.

This book was based on a special issue of the Journal of Ethnic and Cultural Diversity in Social Work.
