Communities, Forests and Governance : Policy and Institutional Innovations from Nepal

This book is an outcome of a collaborative research project between CIFOR and ForestAction Nepal, with funding support from International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The initial idea about the book originated in 2005, when the members of ForestAction Nepal approached researchers of CIFOR with regard to the possibility of documenting lessons of Nepals community-based forestry programmes. We then agreed to write a book by engaging practitioners and researchers asosciated with the respective programmes. Accordingly, we consulted prominent professionals and researchers in the field of Nepals participatory forestry, both within and outside Nepal and requested them to write chapters in the field of their interests and competencies.
