Harvard University’s Astronomy Department announces that “Comet Swift-Tuttle” had come close to colliding with the Earth. A young astronomer calculates that the Comet actually will impact the Earth in 2126 and cause a planetary extinction. Responding to her calculations, NASA formed The Deflection Workshop – still in operation – to coordinate international efforts to divert comets, asteroids and meteors. Also, the Hubble Space Telescope regularly tracks Comet Swift-Tuttle, now considered the single most dangerous object know to humanity. Manned vs. un-manned intercepts, exotic power sources, the effects of prolonged weightlessness and gravity-neutralizing acceleration are explored, leading to fascinating discoveries, and “SLOGAN”, which dramatically expands human space travel limitations to well beyond our solar system, and at velocities exceeding the speed of light. “Comet Enemy” is a fictionalized account of the astronomer’s life, her astrophysicist husband, their astronaut baby daughter, a legendary astronomy mentor, and a generous supporting media mogul, all working with NASA. The true outcome of the the global efforts being put forth to save Planet Earth will be determined soon and then made public.
